If there is one thing that everyone wants, it is to be happy. Happiness is something that we will do any for. We will work at jobs we hate just to have money to go on that vacation to experience that weekend of happiness. We will workout like crazy to get that perfect body to feel good. The problem that many people will encounter is that a lot of these things are very short lived. Even if you make your first million dollars, that excitement will eventually go away. So how do you keep your happiness level up? You can do that by focusing on personal growth.
The reason why personal growth will help you be happy is because improving yourself will cause you to feel good and since personal development is a life long process, you will always have something to improve upon. One of the worst feelings to have is looking back on your life over a 1 year, 5 year, or even 10 year span and realizing that your life hasn’t really changed all that much. When you fail to make progress on the things you want in life, the feelings you get is one of regret and disappointment.
By continually trying to better yourself, what you are doing is creating a better life for yourself. Imagine having the body you have always wanted, the ideal life style, the right relationships, the spiritual strong connection… these are things that almost all of us want. Most people never even get close to achieving their ideal life in every single aspect but even if you do achieve that, you will need to consistently grow in order to maintain it.
So how do you work out personal growth? The first thing you will want to do is have goals. Know what you want. Without goals, you will go through life in circles and where you end up will normally be determined by other people. The next thing you will want to do is make time for self improvement. Do things like read self help books and listen to audio programs about topics that can help improve your life. Working on yourself doesn’t mean you are unhappy with yourself. What it means is that you care enough about yourself to work on making it better. This one decision of making personal growth a life long journey can be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do.
